METABISULPHITE

Inorganic chemical compound with the formula Na₂S₂O₅, which appears as a white or slightly yellowish crystalline solid, with a characteristic sulfur dioxide (SO₂) odor. It is highly soluble in water and acts as a reducing agent, antioxidant, and chemical neutralizer.
