SODA ASH
Soda ash, or sodium carbonate, is an alkaline chemical compound, solid, white, and soluble in water. It can be obtained naturally (trona deposits) or through synthetic processes (Solvay process).
Uses and Applications
pH regulation in flotation, leaching, and treatment of mining water and effluents
In mining, it is mainly used for its ability to regulate pH, neutralize acids, and improve the efficiency of various physicochemical processes. It acts as a medium modifier, improving selectivity between valuable ore and gangue. It neutralizes acidic waters (e.g., acid mine drainage). It is also used to remove impurities and slag during metal smelting and processing.
